Social Values Delivery at The Forum, Gloucester

Our team on-site recently received recognition from main contractor Kier, who awarded us their Social Values Award. Well done to our team on site with special recognition to our Logistics Manager Dai Bates-Moss! Dai’s collaborative approach with Kier also received individual recognition - a true asset to our Logistics Team.
The CSR nomination was for Shore Logistics' ongoing support with work placements for students, student engagement, site logistic support on-site tours and supporting Kier’s charity abseil event. The team have also been integral to the ex-offenders programme on-site and providing refugees with career opportunities.

One of the many success stories highlighting the social values contribution is that of Serhii.

Serhii, who attended the Gloucester Job Fair seeking work in construction after leaving Ukraine with his family to escape the war, found employment through Shore Group Logistics.

Working as a Traffic Marshall, Serhii has had the opportunity to participate in numerous courses provided by Shore Group Logistics and Kier. In addition, he has pursued various opportunities to support his own development in health and safety, environmental factors, and charitable activities.

The Most Talked About Charity Golf Day Ever?

What began as a discussion about inclusion has blossomed into a much larger debate with our Co-Founder, Lewis Yorke-Johnson’s post on our Charity Golf Day having been viewed over 1/4 million times!

As a result of the interest in the day, we’ve expanded the event to create a far more inclusive event. The Charity Golf Day fundraiser on June the 27th, has been extended with an extra programme dedicated to anyone who wants to learn and perfect their skills with a professional.

Women from our Hove office have been practising their golfing skills in preparation for our charity golf day this year. Joy, Rachel, and Ella have been attending lessons ahead of the day. The event is all in support and to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

We are thrilled to welcome everyone this year and look forward to an exciting and inclusive day of golf.

A Recycled Approach On 'Kingsway to the Sea'

At the 'Kingsway to the Sea' site, led by Main Contractor Morgan Sindall, our Civils team has partnered with Roadways to boost sustainability in our pathway construction. We've implemented the use of recycled aggregates as the base and binder layers, a pivotal aspect of our waste management strategy aimed at minimising environmental impact through material reuse.

By utilising 100% recycled aggregates, we are able to help significantly reduce waste and foster circular economy principles. Furthermore, the project employs cold asphalt, which cuts CO2 emissions by 40% compared to traditional hot asphalt, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.
This innovative approach underscores our dedication to environmental sustainability and responsible construction practices. We will keep you updated on this project as progression continues, with summer just around the corner.

Climbing for Change

Our team of 10 members is embarking on a charity Three Peaks Challenge, aiming to conquer the highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales over three days. This adventure entails hiking 22 miles and ascending a total of 3,050 meters, a Level 3 difficulty challenge.

The journey begins with Ben Nevis in Scotland, continues with Scafell Pike in England, and concludes with Snowdon in Wales. Each mountain presents its unique set of challenges. We are undertaking this challenge to raise funds for our partner charity, Turning Tides, which provides vital support for homeless individuals. Their services include advice, counselling, health and wellbeing support, accommodation, and career assistance.

We’re working hard to meet our substantial fundraising goal by July 12th.
