Role: Apprentice Software Developer
What is your role at The Shore Group?
My role here at The Shore Group is Software Developer Apprentice which means I work on everything to do with “tech” and help the team staying up to date with new technological updates and developments.
How long have you been working at The Shore Group?
I have only been working at The Shore Group for 5 months so far but I am loving it!
What do you like most about working at The Shore Group?
For starters, the social environment is fantastic, everyone on the team is great to work with and I love the social element of being in the office. Despite the pandemic, we still have a great social buzz and there is always something fun going on in the office- socially distanced of course!
How has it been joining the team during the pandemic?
Luckily for me, most of my work is done on the computer, so it hasn’t been too hard adjusting to working remotely at home if needed. Joining halfway through the first lockdown was a challenge, but we are getting into the swing of things now and coming into the office as much as possible!
Tell us about some of the jobs you are working on at the moment?
I am working on lots of projects at the moment, including the management of some of the online portals, connecting the APIs, designing a client interface into our systems for labour management and overseeing this launch from a tech point of view. One of my responsibilities I enjoy the most is putting together infographics which pull together data for the dashboards which are announced to the team. It is so important to stay up to date with everything that is going on internally so I think this is very important.
What are your goals in the future?
I would love to stay at The Shore Group in the future and help to map out the development of the Mac and IOS app development as this is something which is really interesting to me so I am hoping to get involved in that in 2021.
How have you found The Shore Group Apprenticeship Process?
For me, an apprenticeship was the natural move when I finished my GCSEs. The tech industry is so quick to change that by the time you go to University or College to study something, the information is already out of date! Applying for an apprenticeship at The Shore Group meant that I could get hands-on, real-world experience whilst learning so much every day. It’s great and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enter a similar role.
