OVERVIEW

Echelon’s London data centre forms part of a significant urban development, delivering critical digital infrastructure in a high-demand market. The Shore Group Logistics team plays a central role in the project’s success, applying specialist experience from previous Tier 1 data centre schemes to ensure operational efficiency, safety excellence and seamless integration with the main contractor’s delivery programme.

SCOPE OF WORKS

From the earliest project stages, our logistics specialists developed a cost-effective, fully coordinated plan in partnership with the client. This included logistics management, traffic marshalling and site security, cleaning services, painting and decorating, handyman support, waste management and forklift operations. By using a 12/6/1-week look-ahead schedule, we aligned deliveries precisely to programme milestones, maintained clear and organised work areas, and ensured optimal use of resources.

SOCIAL VALUE / SUSTAINABILITY

Efficient waste management practices were embedded into the logistics plan to minimise site impact and maintain high environmental standards. The Shore Group’s in-house, multi-division capabilities covering our resource team, reduced reliance on multiple subcontractors, cutting project complexity and streamlining resource use.

CHALLENGES

This was a confidential, technically demanding data centre project with specialist requirements, unforeseen delays, and the need for close coordination in a busy urban setting. Success depended on building strong relationships with the main contractor’s team and adapting quickly to changing programme conditions.

SOLUTIONS / BENEFITS

A fully integrated Shore Group Logistics team provided end-to-end logistics delivery with a single point of accountability. By aligning precisely with the construction roadmap, we achieved just-in-time material scheduling, avoided unnecessary storage in work zones, and optimised site safety, reflected in 99% or above safety scores in all 2025 inspections. Our embedded approach fostered seamless teamwork with the main contractor, with some personnel invited to join their team directly due to exceptional performance on-site.

Due to our performance on this project, our teams have been awarded a logistics package working with Priority Engineering regarding the fit-out stage.
