Hemel Hempstead 4 Data Centre, Hertfordshire

OVERVIEW

The Shore Group was appointed to deliver the M&E package for the Hemel Hempstead 4 Data Centre in Hertfordshire. This one-year programme involved full M&E fit-out works for a high-profile end client, requiring a combination of technical expertise, risk management, and seamless workforce coordination.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Shore Group provided a core team of 15 engineers on-site throughout the programme, scaling capacity up to an additional 50 engineers during peak periods to meet delivery demands. Works included the installation of cooling and emergency cooling systems, fire alarm protection (FAP) framework, data containment spine works, CCTV system, BMS panelling, transformer movements, and cage installation to all RMUs. The project also covered main hall lighting as well as comprehensive H&S management and reporting.

CHALLENGES

The project required delivery within a fixed-price framework, demanding rigorous planning, resource management, and adherence to strict health and safety standards. Managing workforce scalability to align with programme peaks was also essential to maintaining efficiency and meeting deadlines.
