OVERVIEW
The Old War Office, a Grade II* listed building with a rich and unique history, was originally completed in 1906 and famously used by Prime Minister Winston Churchill during World War II. Located at the heart of Whitehall, this 760,000 sq ft landmark has been redeveloped to create a world-class five-star hotel and 85 luxury apartments. Works on the scheme included the construction of a six-storey basement and a three-storey roof extension, delivering one of London’s most prestigious restoration and redevelopment projects.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Shore Group supported Ardmore by supplying up to 30 skilled operatives throughout the programme. This included electricians, improvers, plumbers, and welders, all carefully sourced to meet the technical requirements of the development. The workforce contributed to the complex mechanical and electrical installation works, supporting the delivery of both residential and hotel facilities within the historic building
CHALLENGES
The redevelopment of a Grade II* listed building required not only technical expertise but also precision and compliance with heritage standards. Coordinating skilled trades across such a large and complex site demanded a reliable and consistent workforce.
