Project Overview
Our Civils Division is working in partnership with Mildren Construction on the Saltbox Project, a major commercial development located in Bognor Regis. Construction commenced in August 2025, and the completed scheme will deliver 11 state-of-the-art logistics and trade counter units, providing approximately 204,993 sq ft of high-quality industrial space within Saltbox Business Park. The development has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings. Completion of the project is anticipated in August 2026.
Planning & Programme Strategy
A well-structured planning approach enabled the Civils team to successfully complete a substantial scope of works within the first 11 weeks on site. Activities were carefully sequenced to support piling operations, foundation works and site infrastructure installation while maintaining efficient site logistics. The construction of the main spine road to base macadam level improved access across the development, supporting safe and organised movement throughout the programme. As works progressed, the team also coordinated the installation of incoming utilities alongside external service ducting and drainage networks. With substructure works now complete, including the formation of dock levellers to all units, the project has transitioned into the hard landscaping phase, including the formation of car park spaces, footpaths and preparation of areas to finished levels ready for block paving.
Scope of Works
During the initial 11 weeks on site, our Civils team delivered a comprehensive package of enabling and infrastructure works to support the wider development. This included attendance and support during CMC piling operations, the formation of 1,200m² of car parking areas and the construction of a 1,600m² haul road to support site access and logistics. The team also installed approximately 500 metres of drainage infrastructure and completed the excavation and placement of 1,200m³ of concrete foundations incorporating 213 sets of holding-down bolts to support the structural framework of the units. Building on this progress, works have continued with the installation of incoming utilities together with all external service ducting and drainage, alongside the completion of substructure works, including the formation of dock levellers to each unit, with hard landscaping now underway across car park areas and pedestrian routes.
Project Delivery
Working collaboratively with Mildren Construction, our Civils Division has maintained steady progress while ensuring high standards of quality, safety and coordination across the site. Careful sequencing of groundworks, infrastructure and service installations has allowed the project to transition smoothly from early enabling works into the next phases of construction. The completion of the substructure and dock leveller installations represents a key milestone for the development, enabling follow-on trades to progress efficiently while hard landscaping and external works continue to advance across the site.
